venison piesIt’s Overton Farmers’ Market this Saturday so grab your basket and head over for a great morning of local food shopping.

This month Carmichael Estate Farm Meats have promised us some exciting new products venison terrine and venison sausage rolls along with their fab beef and venison pies. They will also have the first new season 2015 lamb plus roe and red deer venison, and fine Lanarkshire Limousin beef.  Battlefield Bakery will have their delicious biscuits and freshly baked breads. Overton Farm have been busy tattie howking so there’s plenty new season potatoes to serve along side their homebred  lamb, beef and pork.

Caurnie soap has every type of cleanser for allergy sufferers with their natural skincare range.

It’s Overton Farmers’ Market this Saturday 4th July, 9 till 1pm, Crossford, Clyde Valley

RoundLettuce_000Summer is here and what better time to pop along to the Clyde Valley and pick up some seasonal goodies? We’re looking forward to a sunny market and indulging in delicious fresh strawberries and gooseberries. There are local tomatoes from Robert Lindsay of the Clyde Valley, syboes and hot house cucumbers perfect with soft butterhead lettuce. Plenty of meats including steaks for grilling, spring lamb and roe deer. Farm house bread, cheese, cup cakes and of course natural skincare go for the Bog Myrtle soaps and wash to chase away the midges.

Complimentary hot drink at The Oven Cafe with every £10 spend at any one stall.

Overton Farmers’ Market this Saturday 6th June, 9 till 1pm, Crossford, Clyde Valley

overton strawbsJoin us this Saturday for our June farmers’ market with the first of Clyde Valley strawberries and tomatoes available you can get the first taste of summer despite this unseasonal weather we’re experiencing. It’s also OPEN FARM SATURDAY at Overton with plenty to discover see full details here.

Our stall holders are promising some great local produce including local meats:beef, lamb, mutton, venison & pork; smoked fish, farm eggs, fresh milk from the dairy, berries, hot house tomatoes & cucumbers. Freshly baked farmhouse bread, flavoured cheeses, cupcakes, brownies, chilli preserves and baked goods. Pick up some natural skincare from Caurnie, great as a fathers’ day gift.

There’s also a great selection of bedding & vegetable plants at the farm shop and the Oven Café offers a free hot drink for every £10 spent at any one market stall.

It’s Blossom Day this Saturday 2nd May from 9 till 1pm, Overton Farm, Crossford, Clyde Valley

Our regular farmers’ market will be in full swing along with plenty of activities, planting and local information tables, a crafters market, cookery demos and tastings all housed in the marquee.  Energetic types can try their hand at archery or fencing or take a wander round and look at the farm animals.

eggsThis Easter weekend join us at Overton Farm for a bumper market. We have everything you need for your Easter feasting, legs of lamb, delicious venison and beef all from local farms. Eggs of course are in abundance with goose, duck, hens and maybe even some chocolate ones! Damn Fine Cheese are back as are Galloway Chillies with some chilli plants along with their preserves, Dotty Designs with their delicious cup cakes themed for springtime, Battlefield Bakery with farmhouse breads, Overton Farm with local veggies & home bred meats as are Carmichaels with their Estate venison, beef and lamb, Caurnie Soap with natural skincare and this month a new addition we have a stall with home made planters for you to fill with your favourite plants.

venison piesIt’s our March farmer’s market this Saturday at Overton Farm in the Clyde Valley, come along and join us for some great local food shopping. As the saying goes March has certainly ‘come in like a lion’ so for the time being we have some great winter warmers Galloway Chillies with preserves to spice up a cheese board or ramp up the heat in your favourite recipes, Overton Farm will help you celebrate pie week with delicious steak pies, The Battlefield Bakery with farmhouse bread fresh from their ovens, Dotty Designs pick up some delicious home baked cup cakes for a wee treat, St Bride’s Poultry for a comforting roast chicken dinner, Carmichaels Estate Meats have a great selection for slow cooked stews or venison pies and Caurnie Soap will be bringing natural bubbles to fill that hot bath. We’re delighted that a new producer will be coming along this Saturday, Damn Fine Cheese with a delicious selection of flavoured cheddar. Many of our producers will also have unique gift ideas and packs for Mother’s Day presents.

It’s Overton Farmer’s Market this Saturday 7th January, 9 till 1pm, Crossford, Clyde Valley

big Rhubarb-Orange-Blossom-Cake-thumb-1-2 (1)We’re back and looking forward to our first market of the year so join us this Saturday in the Clyde Valley. With the weather still freezing us to our bones it’s easy to justify some warming comfort foods, pick up some new season Yorkshire forced rhubarb the fine tender stems are perfect for compotes, tarts or cakes try this delicious Rhubarb & Orange Blossom Cake . We will have milk fresh from Thorntonhall Dairy, full milk with a creamy top perfect for porridge, veal, lamb, beef, venison, free range chickens, chilli preserves, cup cakes, home grown root veg, Seville oranges for marmalade making and farm house bread.

There’s also a treat in store for anyone spending £10 or over at any one stall of a warming free cuppa at The Oven Café, chose from your favourite coffee or tea.
