Little reminder that there is no market this weekend

This one didn’t make the criteria!

As September is a five Saturday month there is no market this weekend.  Giving the stallholders a little extra time to think up some treats for next time. If you can’t wait for the next market then many of our stall holders can deliver to you or have farm shops, please have a look at the producer’s section of our website for details.

Our next market is  Overton Farmers’ Market on the 6th October, this will be an extra fun packed market as along with the usual activities the farm is also hosting Clyde Valley Fruit Day, which is a celebration of the fruit growing tradition in that area. There will be apple pressing, chef demo’s, loads of information on the orchard programme and live music; take a peek – http://www.clydevalleyorchards.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/Fruit-day-flyer-Oct-2012.pdf.

Lanarkshire Farmers’ Market will also be holding a scarecrow competition which is open to schools and individuals. We’ve had a great response from Lanarkshire Schools who have been busy getting imaginative and building some fabulous scarecrows, the winning school will receive £100 towards school funds, the competition also has a category for individuals with a market hamper as first prize. Why not enter one, if you’re not up to making a frame then you can pick one up from Overton Farm, Crossford along with a small bag of straw for decoration. We are all really looking forward to seeing the creations who knows it may even tempt Grumpytam out of his scratcher. Get scarecrow making……
