Clyde Valley Blossom Day and Farmers’ Market this Saturday 7th May from 9 till 1pm

BLOSSOM DAY (2)Some of your old favourite producers are back at Overton Farm this Saturday for a one off market to celebrate Clyde Valley Blossom Day. Although not an official Lanarkshire Farmers’ Market we thought we’d post it on the website as it would be great for us all to get together again. We’re hoping for sunshine and Overton Farm will be joined by Carmichael Estate with venison, lamb and beef, The Battlefield Bakery with farmhouse bread and biscuits, St Bride’s Free Range Poultry with chicken and guinea fowl, Thorntonhall Ice Cream with all natural delicious dairy ice cream and non homogenised milk and Caurnie Soap great skincare range especially for allergy sufferers.

There’s loads of activities,30 plus craft stalls, heritage display, RSPB, Wildlife Trust and of course The Oven Cafe will be open for refreshments.

It’s Overton Farmers’ Market this Saturday, 7th November, 9 till 1pm, Overton Farm, Crossford, Clyde Valley.

baked-pumpkin-fondueJoin us this Saturday for our November market. We have some of the best sausages and burgers for those late bonfire parties, pumpkins or root veggies for hand warming mugs of soup and local apples to cover in toffee! Try this recipe for Baked Pumpkin Fondue as pictured.

This month is a great opportunity to discover the treats our producers are planning for Christmas, have a chat or place your order and get organised for you Christmas feasts. Battlefield Bakery, Overton Farm and Carmichael Estate Farm Meats will have their order books on hand. Caurnie Soap will have their usual selection and heaps of gift ideas.

It’s Clyde Valley Fruit Day and Overton Farmers’ Market this Saturday 3rd October 9 till 1.30, Crossford, Clyde Valley

Clyde Valley Fruit DayIt’s all happening in the Clyde Valley this Saturday, along side our farmers’ market, Overton Farm are hosting Fruit Day, a celebration of the tradition of fruit growing in the area. Not only do we have plenty of food producers attending with St Bride’s Poultry back with delicious chickens but we have a new stallholder MiSushi with a selection of freshly made sushi to buy on the day or order for home delivery, great for parties! Also attending are Battlefield Bakery , Galloway Chillies, Caurnie Soap, Dotty Designs, Carmichael Estate, Damn Fine Cheese and of course Overton Farm & Butchery.

Pick up some ideas on what dishes to prepare with our great local produce in the marquee where there will be a programme of cookery demonstrations, those wanting to burn off some calories can have a wee boogie to the Strathaven Community Jazz Band, the vintage tractors are back as is the very popular blend your own smoothie bike. It’s the launch of Clyde Valley Apple Juice with onsite apple pressing, there’s craft stalls, make a bird feeder and prizegiving and display of the Scarecrow Competition.

Clyde Valley Fruit DayIt’s all happening at Overton Farm on Saturday 3rd October. Along with the monthly Farmers’ Market the Annual Fruit Day is taking place… a celebration of our local orchards, fruit and local food!

Clyde Valley Fruit Day is a celebration of the fruit growing tradition in our area, along with the market goodies visitors can watch chef demonstrations, wood carving, apple pressing, vintage tractors, live music and gain interesting information about the Valley’s heritage. It’s a fun filled day for all.

It’s Bothwell Scarecrow Festival Farmers’ Market this Saturday 12th September from 10 – 2pm

scarecrow bothwellWe’re going to be ‘popping up’ this Saturday as part of  The Bothwell Scarecrow Festival, we’re in the car park at the Bothwell Medical Centre, 3 Uddingston Road Bothwell G71 8ET.

Join in this fun day with plenty to see and do; check out all that’s on here. If you haven’t been to the festival before then prepare yourself  to see some fantastic sights, shopkeepers and households alike have  used their imagination create some amazing scarecrows, displaying them along pavements and gardens. The market will be nestled in the medical centre car park near the town centre, convenient to pick up some great local foods, producers attending are Overton Farm with veal, beef, lamb along with home grown fruit and veg, St Bride’s Free Range Poultry with delicious farmhouse chickens, Thorntonhall Ice Cream, fabulous dairy ice cream and fresh non homogenised milk, Threepwood Fayre confectionary, hand made traditional sweets as well as a selection of Arran cheese, Galloway Chillies with their delicious chilli preserves and chilli plants and Mi Sushi a Bothwell company offering fresh sushi, lunch combos, salads and party platters for home delivery.

Overton Farmers’ Market this Saturday 5th September, 9 till 1pm, Crossford, Clyde Valley

7-Gallery-Italian-Classics-Osso-Buco-400x600It’s Overton Farmers’ Market this Saturday and what better way to embrace autumn than to head along and pick up some great local produce. We’ll be at Overton Farm in the heart of the Clyde Valley so come along and pick up freshly harvested tatties, home grown tomatoes all varieties including vine, yellow and baby plum all grown in the valley as are the soft berries. Meats available are veal, beef, lamb, pork and venison. Our baker will also be there with freshly baked farmhouse breads & biscuits.

Why not try this delicious osso buco recipe (as pictured) it’s perfect for the season.

There will also be information on our October Fruit Day Celebration (Saturday 3rd October), Scarecrow competition entry forms and info sheet. It’s amazing to see the characters that folk think up; it’s a lovely day out.

Remember there’s a complimentary hot drink at the Oven Café with a £10 spend at any one stall.

It’s Overton Farmers’ Market this Saturday 1st August, 9 till 1pm, Crossford, Clyde Valley

venison piesIt’s Overton Farmers’ Market this Saturday so grab your basket and head over for a great morning of local food shopping.

This month Carmichael Estate Farm Meats have promised us some exciting new products venison terrine and venison sausage rolls along with their fab beef and venison pies. They will also have the first new season 2015 lamb plus roe and red deer venison, and fine Lanarkshire Limousin beef.  Battlefield Bakery will have their delicious biscuits and freshly baked breads. Overton Farm have been busy tattie howking so there’s plenty new season potatoes to serve along side their homebred  lamb, beef and pork.

Caurnie soap has every type of cleanser for allergy sufferers with their natural skincare range.

It’s Overton Farmers’ Market this Saturday 4th July, 9 till 1pm, Crossford, Clyde Valley

We’re looking forward to a sunny market and indulging in delicious fresh strawberries and gooseberries. There are local tomatoes from Robert Lindsay of the Clyde Valley, syboes and hot house cucumbers perfect with soft butterhead lettuce. Plenty of meats including steaks for grilling, spring lamb and roe deer. Farm house bread, cheese, cup cakes and of course natural skincare go for the Bog Myrtle soaps and wash to chase away the midges.

Overton Farmers’ Market this Saturday 6th June, 9 till 1pm, Crossford, Clyde Valley

overton strawbsJoin us this Saturday for our June farmers’ market with the first of Clyde Valley strawberries and tomatoes available you can get the first taste of summer despite this unseasonal weather we’re experiencing. It’s also OPEN FARM SATURDAY at Overton with plenty to discover see full details here.

Our stall holders are promising some great local produce including local meats:beef, lamb, mutton, venison & pork; smoked fish, farm eggs, fresh milk from the dairy, berries, hot house tomatoes & cucumbers. Freshly baked farmhouse bread, flavoured cheeses, cupcakes, brownies, chilli preserves and baked goods. Pick up some natural skincare from Caurnie, great as a fathers’ day gift.

There’s also a great selection of bedding & vegetable plants at the farm shop and the Oven Café offers a free hot drink for every £10 spent at any one market stall.

It’s Blossom Day this Saturday 2nd May from 9 till 1pm, Overton Farm, Crossford, Clyde Valley

blossom 2015It’s our Blossom Day celebration this Saturday, come along and join in the fun. Our regular farmers’ market will be in full swing along with plenty of activities, planting and local information tables, a crafters market, cookery demos and tastings all housed in the marquee.  Energetic types can try their hand at archery or fencing or take a wander round and look at the farm animals.
