Carmichael Estate Meat will be there with farmed and wild venison, beef & lamb from their farm at the foot of Tinto Hill, Overton Farm Shop has delicious veal, lamb and beef as well as seasonal fruit & veg such as pumpkins (recipe for photo click here), squash, apples, sprouts and home grown root veg, St Bride’s Free Range poultry brings the tastiest chickens for roasting as well as some pies and savouries, Rice n Spicy will have their delicious Punjab ready meals for the ultimate curry night and for those who would like to treat someone to their Curry Masterclass will have gift vouchers on hand for a great gift idea, Galloway Chillies will crank up the heat with their chilli preserves, Saucy Desserts will warm your cockles with their toothsome sticky toffee pudding and dessert range and Caurnie Soap will have their usual selection of natural skincare. We have two new stallholders Dotty Designs who make delicious cup cakes and The Battlefield Bakery with a great selection of breads and baked goods.

It’s Clarkston Farmers’ Market this Saturday 25th October, 9 till 1pm at the station Car Park.

Whether you are planning making your own tasty dessert using local apples from Overton Farm’s orchard or picking up a delicious sticky toffee pudding from new producer Saucy Desserts don’t forget to swing by Thorntonhall for some delicious ice cream to top it off. There are tasty choices for warming slow cooked meals take your pick from beef, lamb, veal and venison from Overton Farm or how about some Old Spot pork chops from Lochbyre Rare Breed Meat to try the recipe in the photo , St Bride’s Free Range Poultry will be there with delicious chickens for a Sunday roast, Island Cheese for some savoury treats and Galloway Chillies have the perfect preserves to accompany. Fresh fish from Fencebay, try their Cullen Skink, delicious fudge from The Wee Fudge, Alesela are back with an amazing selection of artisan beers, Caurnie Soaperie with natural skincare and we have a new baker; The Battlefield Bakery.

This Saturday 4th October, Overton Farmers’ Market is hosting CLYDE VALLEY FRUIT DAY

Clyde Valley Fruit Dayjudges of the scarecrow competitonWe’re so excited to be hosting the annual Clyde Valley Fruit Day and Scarecrow Competition this Saturday. There’s so much in store; as well as our farmers’ market there will plenty of fun to be had. The Rural Development Trust will be in the marquee with loads of activities, RSPB will help you make your very own bird feeder, try your hand at wood turning, The Orchard Group will have loads of varieties of local apples which you can watch being pressed, power up your own smoothie on the Smoothie Bike. The local archery group will be there for you to try out your skills with a bow and arrow, check out the vintage tractors, enjoy food demos & live music. With all that going on make sure you pick up some great local groceries from Overton Farm & Butchery, Carmichael Estate Meat, St Bride’s Poultry, Thorntonhall Ice Cream, Rice n Spicy, Galloway Chillies, Saucy Desserts, Alexander Taylor’s Bakery, Lochbyre Rare Breed Meats & Caurnie Soap.

So come along to the Station Car Park and choose something special whether it’s the creamiest ice cream on the planet from Thorntonhall Dairy Ice Cream, fresh produce from the Clyde Valley such as the last of the strawberries, root veggies, lamb or veal from Overton Farm, for a delicious roast chicken look no further than St Brides Poultry, Island cheese are back with their great selection & if you want to turn up the heat pay a visit to Galloway Chillies who are bringing their fiery preserves, Fencebay have some fresh fish to cook up or maybe you’d rather have some of their delicious smoked salmon pate, Lochbyre Rare Breed Meat have promised a couple of special recipe sausages either Thistly Cross Cider or Galloway Chilli Burns and for those in need of some pampering then Caurnie Soaperie has everything for natural cleansing. Carmichael Estate Farm Meats will be there with venison, beef & lamb from the foot of Tinto Hill, Fencebay Fisheries from Largs will have their usual fantastic selection of fresh & smoked fish, shellfish, fish pate & Cullen Skink, Overton Farm from the heart of the Clyde Valley, with the end of the season berries, plums & tomatoes, tatties, beetroot and home bred meats beef, lamb and Clyde Valley veal. If you feel like a wee rest from cooking then pick up some delicious curries & pakora from Rice n Spicy.
