galloway chilliesIt’s Clarkston Farmers’ Market this Saturday, we have a full compliment of stalls this month and are delighted to welcome a new producer GALLOWAY CHILLIES with a range of chilli based preserve products including their amazing chilli jam. Come along this weekend and browse our stalls overflowing with some freshly harvested produce from the Clyde Valley including, tomatoes, strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, cucumbers and freshly dug new potatoes. Excellent varieties and quality of meats available steaks for the barbeque, Old Spot Pork barbeque packs, venison, veal and new season lamb. We have fresh and smoked fish, free range chickens, Scottish cheese, and many of our producers make some great recipe dishes ready to pop in the oven when you don’t feel like cooking. There will be dairy ice cream, artisan bread, handmade fudge, natural soap & some unique beers to choose from.

We will have Clyde Valley veal, tomatoes, strawberries & freshly dug tatties, venison, beef, lamb, fresh fish & artisan breads.

It’s Strathaven Farmers’ Market this Saturday 12th July from 9 till 1pm, Common Green Car Park.

grilled chickenWe’re delighted that the Strathaven Community Jazz Band will be joining this Saturday. Enjoy some live music while you shop and stop by our taste tent where we will be sampling some of our stallholders great produce, there will be mini food demos with ideas for summer dining.

We have Carmichael Estate Meats with venison, beef & new season lamb, working closely with them are Rice n Spicy who use much of Carmichael’s produce in the delicious carefully prepared Punjab ready meals, Overton Farm & Butchery with farm eggs, Clyde Valley strawberries & tomatoes, freshly dug tatties from their farm, hot house cucumbers, bedding plants & home bred beef, St Bride’s Free Range Poultry with farmhouse quiche, chicken pies & savouries as well as their delicious chickens & Caurnie soaperie will be there with their range on natural skincare including one that wards off midges!

Overton Farmers’ Market this Saturday 5th July, 9 till 1pm , Crossford, Clyde Valley

Come along for some local food shopping with goodies such as local strawberries & tomatoes, free range chickens, new season lamb, home bred beef, Clyde Valley Veal,leek plants, farm eggs and some delicious Punjab recipe dishes (using that new season lamb!)

Alexander Taylor Bakery are taking a wee break this week so please make sure that you give the bakery a call on 01357 521260 and they will arrange your order to be sent to Overton market for pick up.

Clarkston Farmers’ Market, Saturday 28th June from 9 till 1pm, Station Car Park

spatch cockWe’re excited to be back at Clarkston this Saturday with some great local produce direct from the farms and producers.

Why not try a spatchcock chicken for the grill or barbeque, this split and flattened chicken can be rubbed with your favourite spices before being cooked up easily for a really tasty dish with moist meat and really crispy skin.

This week St Bride’s Farm are offering a pre order special, please place your order here for one of their delicious free range spatchcock chickens for market pick up at £6 each, they are around 1kilo each and will feed 2 hungry people. (Orders should be placed on or before Thursday 26th and will be available for pick up at Clarkston Farmers’ Market on Saturday)

Overton Farm with home bred beef, lamb and veal. Ayrshire tatties, strawberries & tomatoes fresh from the Clyde Valley, they’ll also have some veggie & bedding plants

Carmichael Estate Farm Meats with some great cuts of mutton at the moment perfect for slow cooked spicy curries & tagines.

Alexander Taylor Bakery will have their usual selection warm from the oven fluffy rolls, sourdough breads, traditional loaves & pastries.

Fencebay Fish, smoked & fresh fish, fish pates, shellfish & award winning Cullen skink.

Caurnie Soaperie with a fabulous range of natural skincare made from organic herbs and essential oils, they’re pretty good at it they’ve been making soap since the 1920′s.

There are great Clyde Valley strawberries, cucumbers & tomatoes, loads of varieties of new potatoes, bedding plants and top quality meats. Rice n Spicy will have their fabulous slow cooked mutton curry using Carmichael Estate meat, Alexander Taylor’s bread and sensational strawberry tarts, Perthshire Preserves have promised to bring their Passion fruit Curd use as a delicious spread or Victoria sponge filler, Carmichael Estate venison, Overton with beef & veal, St Bride’s with free range chickens & Caurnie Soap. It’s worth a jaunt along the Valley; pick up some blooms & great quality foods.
